Reflecting explores Moffatt's attraction to water
and its role in reflecting the landscape.
Featured in this exhibit is her new series,
Along the Potomac, which includes paintings of the Dyke
Marsh Wildlife Preserve.
Running through the tidal freshwater marsh is
the 18-mile Mount Vernon Trail. The trail stretches
from George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate to
Theodore Roosevelt Island. It is a favorite of
hikers, bikers, and wildlife enthusiasts. Several
paintings in the series depict marsh areas
surrounding the trail, along the Potomac.
The show also includes paintings of
reflections on the Occoquan River, Venice canals, lakes
of Ireland, and New England salt marshes.
Moffatt has shown at the Loft Gallery since 1991.
She is an award-winning painter and has exhibited in
many juried and solo shows in the DC metro area.
Last summer she was honored to be selected as a
Visiting Artist at The Torpedo Factory Art Center in
Alexandria VA. You can always see her work at
The Loft Gallery and in her adjoining studio in The
Loft Art Center.
To learn more about Jan and her work, visit her
website
The Gallery is located at 313 Mill Street in the
heart of Historic Occoquan and is open on:
Escapes features paintings by Jackie Perry of both
imaginary and real places and objects intended to take you
away from the ordinary, every day and give you moments of
escape!
